Chynów

day 30 - 69 km

Kosobudz - Zielona Gora

Before we left we patched the front tire of the tree bike again, there was still a hole. With Daan on the road today. It looks a bit milder today but rain is predicted for this afternoon. Cycling through the woods all day like this, you don’t get the feeling that nature is doing badly, although you do see that the woods could be much better in terms of biodiversity. It is so green everywhere, the villages are nicely compact and furthermore there is a lot of landscape, with a mix of agriculture, forestry and nature. The feeling is that there is a good balance between man and nature here. But what don’t we see? What are the hidden harmful mechanisms? There are surely those here too.

Today it is mainly mileage, interaction on this Saturday is minimal. Since we do not speak Polish and the Poles in the smaller villages speak little or no German or English, this is quite a handicap. I don’t look carefully on the Komoot app and as a result we get stuck several times in the loose sand of a forest path we shouldn’t have had at all. Fat bad luck. We meet Richard and Sanne around two to eat a sandwich in the field, and a few miles down the road it turns out that I lost the key to the battery, so we can’t change the battery. Were we brought to a halt yesterday by a flat tire, now it’s a lost key. We drive back to the stop but find nothing. What now, find a grinder? Here comes Sanne driving up. Someone had found the keys on the street and dropped them off. How lucky we are again. Is this coincidence harvesting too? I hope so, fine in any case.

We cycle on toward Zielona Góra, crossing the Oder by ferry. In Czerwiensk we put two little trees in front of the closed front door of the Town Hall (Saturday). The weather changes, it slowly closes and yes, a little later a shower falls on our heads. The first shower since we have been on the road for a month, it makes us wet. We enter Zielona Góra along the main road, which is quite busy. With this rain, it’s no fun. And we decide to find a place here where we can park the Boomfiets and take the cars to our accommodation some thirty kilometers further along the route just before Nova Sol. A hotel, because we can’t find a cottage here where we can cook for ourselves. Too bad. We eat ten minutes away at a fellow hotel. And pick up the tree bike tomorrow, on Sunday, as we stay here for two nights. Totally fine.
