Day 18 – Moidentin – (Garden)-Lohmen (65 km)
How do you describe a day overflowing with beautiful landscape images? What a beautiful route it was again. The images of the forests stay with me the most. The sunlight through the budding beech forests is almost mythical. And we came across a road with huge tall linden trees, like a beautiful green cathedral. Even the horse chestnut trees are now in bloom. The landscape here is genial and relaxed, I have no better description for it. The alternation of rolling fields, fens and lakes, canals and woods with a village here and there gives me the feeling that the landscape is having a good time here, and seems quite in balance with nature.
We leave Wismar by car to Moidentin where the tree bike is located. At ten o’clock we jump on our bikes and are on our way. Quite a route today, Sanne cycles with me. The first part is again a nice example of the desired Circle4Change route, a two-meter asphalt path through a beautiful idyllic landscape. And it actually stays that way all day. We drink coffee in Warin, where I also finally find a shovel to plant trees in places along the way that are suitable for this. Sanne and Richard do some shopping and a little later in a beech forest overlooking a lake we enjoy our lunch. It’s wonderful being in nature like this, and that at the end of April. The rolling landscape is quite a challenge for the tree bike. At the end of the afternoon, just past the hamlet of Lenzen, we meet one Stefanie returning from her sheep. She talks about the celebration they are having on May 1, and I tell her that we will be here again in three years and will then try to be in Lenzen on May 1 to plant many May trees together. The May tree phenomenon seems to be very well known here, many people mention it when we cycle by. Sanne took the bus a little earlier to the accommodation in Garden-Lohmen because she is going to teach another Yoga class. With a view of the lake, we eat asparagus outside. It was another beautiful day. Tomorrow we cycle to Waren, where we will stay for two days and our weekday weekend begins, we will be hosted there by one Sandra. I am curious.
