Den Oever / Breezanddijk

day 130 - 25 km

Middenmeer - Den Oever / Breezanddijk

It rained well last night. It is eleven o’clock when we say goodbye to Sophie from Soepp and leave for Middenmeer. There Jurgen from NH media is waiting for us. He is making a short film for the NH news. A little later Paula, mayor of Voorst, also arrives, to join us for today’s bike ride. It is beautiful Dutch weather with sunshine and threatening clouds that could burst open at any moment. Daan, Marga and Paula join the tree bike to Wieringerwerf, from there to the IJsselmeer coast, and then along the IJsselmeer dike to Den Oever. The wind is strong but fortunately we have the wind mostly at our backs. And despite the threatening skies, it remains dry and the sun shines for the most part. A short interview with NH media and we cycle on again. We see rain in the distance but we stay dry. On the way we have contact with Omroep Friesland and the Leeuwarder Courant who will be visiting us tomorrow. In Den Oever we drink a cup of coffee in ‘t Wad, where we also eat a kibbeling before we cycle to garage ‘Den Das en Vos’. Meanwhile, Richard and Sanne have driven up and down to Leeuwarden to park the camper and trailer in advance. The tree bike is put on the car ambulance, properly secured and driven to Breezanddijk. I drive behind it with Richard. We place the tree bike in the lee of the ‘Blue-Energy’ building, the trees next to it and drive back to Den Oever to pick up Daan, Marga and Sanne and drive on to Den Helder where we spend the night in Daan’s house. Marge and Sanne cook chili-con-and-sin-carne. The last night to recharge the batteries. Tomorrow the last day of cycling. The circle is almost complete. A strange feeling. Also very nice that it is done, and also very sad that it is done.
