Bresse sur Grosne - Le Creusot
Of course, it’s lame to start talking about the warm weather again. But it was today. So that’s said. At seven o’clock in the car to the tree bike in Bresse sur Grosne, next to the church. The low light gives beautiful landscape images. The cows are already awake. Daan cycles along, Richard takes the car. The landscape here is also beautifully gentle-sloping, we cycle alternately through small picturesque villages and a relaxed agricultural landscape, and we take drone pictures along the way. Among others of the beautifully situated castle in Sercy. In the town of Saint-Gengoux-le-National a little further on, we go to the town hall in the old center with lots of elevation changes. It is unfortunately closed and we give two trees, leaflets and a forest book to the lady who lives opposite and who will give it to the Marie, one tree is for herself. We take a picture. As we drone by the white church with cemetery just in front of Savianges, a van pulls up. The man, Denis Morain, turns out to be the mayor, in the conversation he proudly tells us that he supplied the decorated cross on the long roof of Notre Dame, he has his own workshop in ornamental metal. Great right? We give him two little trees and leaflets and take a picture. I think it is in Lanzy when a little later we run into Veronique, I am already past when she calls to take a picture, she invites us to have a drink. From the garden we see the tree bike. I ask if Daan wants to film her when I pass by with the tree, she wants to, because that is the perspective of many people who see the tree bike passing by. It becomes a fun mini-movie. We cycle on again through the heat and come to a super steep street, above fifteen percent, the street name turns out to be “Montée de la Jacotte. It is that it is really right on the line otherwise you would never do this. We have to halfway decide to do a ‘tug of war’, we never cycle up this with this heat. And even the car has quite some trouble with it, and so do we. Anyway, we get to the top. Made it again. But with help. It keeps going up and down today until we arrive in Le Creusot at the Marie, our destination for the day. It is three o’clock when we enter the stately town hall and Daan and I find ourselves in the secretariat of Mayor David Marti. Elisa welcomes us and takes the little tree and the Forest Book with the leaflets. She will pass it on to the mayor; he is not here today. Before driving to our Gite, ten minutes from Le Creusot, we do some shopping for tonight. Foppe de Haan and his wife Daniëlle join us for dinner. A very pleasant evening, eating together, telling stories about our project and also talking about how to make the ‘Voice of Nature’ part of Circle4Change in the best possible way. Questions came up such as: How do we reach everyone and not only the people who are already open to this. And what is the multi-year plan for the “Voice of Nature” and for Circle4Change. How do we best strengthen each other? And how do we get key partners into this? Enough food for thought. First, let’s get a good night’s sleep.
