Day 39 - 40 km

Bartosovice - Lanskroun

After a short night, everything is packed again around nine o’clock and we leave in the rain with the car and trailer for Bartosovice, where the tree bike is. At half past twelve we meet with Sarka Strnadova in Zamberk, cycling thirteen kilometers. Of course in the rain, even today it remains gray and wet. We park the tree bike in front of the town hall and have a coffee at the square, where Sarka picks us up. We walk to the second floor of the town hall where the young mayor in his large room welcomes us with coffee. He also seems to be an enthusiastic sportsman and farmer, nice right? Zamberg has about six thousand inhabitants. With our compact map and the Forest Book on the table, we explain what we are doing and why we are doing it. We ask what Circle4Change can do for Zamberg? And have some suggestions to get involved, such as becoming a project partner, improving trail, birthday forest with education program birthday trees, and maybe even a land art project. Wednesday it will be discussed in the city council. Nice. We go outside and take a picture of offering a tree. Then we walk through the park with Sarka to the school where a group of teenagers, who fortunately understand English, all receive a tree from us after our story. Interested reactions and they are happy with the little trees. With Sarka we have lunch to discuss the further steps, she also tells a bit of the history of Zamberk, including the fact that in 1948 all property was taken away (communism) and only in the 1990s were returned. What an impact on society that must have given. With Sanne we leave for the second part of today’s stage, thirty kilometers to Lanskroun. The first few kilometers we follow a nice clear bike path. Then we ride more on the roads. The asphalt is of good quality, no bumpy asphalt here. Good for our tree. I hope the tree doesn’t get too wet with all this rain. Fortunately, the excess water can drain away. But whether that’s enough? Around five o’clock we arrive in Lanskroun, and then our address turns out to be a few more kilometers away, the batteries just enough to make it. Daan has already unloaded everything. And after a cup of tea Daan and I go to pick up the E-bus, three quarters of an hour drive, then back via Zamberk where the trailer is. In short, a nice three-hour drive through an enchanting hilly landscape with low-hanging clouds, so near dusk. It’s a lot of logistics to keep everything in order. But we are still on our predetermined schedule. Tomorrow to Letovice.
