Day 44 - 55 km

Brno (Kninicky) - Vlasatice (Pasohlávky)

From the forest cabin, Wijnand and Cyril leave for home after breakfast. With Sanne, after packing everything, I ride back to Daan and Cecel who are already waiting on the terrace. The weather is pleasant and I get on my bike with Cecel while Daan and Sanne rent an extra bike in Brno so Daan can ride with his daughter today. We are about ten kilometers on the road when Daan and Sanne arrive, just when we have to turn around because it is too steep on the semi-paved road. We cycle on together and it is around one o’clock when we see many tables along the road, we stop and ask if we can have a drink. It turns out to be a birthday of someone turning fifty. He, of course, gets a birthday tree. Before we know it, food and drinks are on the table. Great right? We drop by and are spontaneously invited. What nice people here again. The landscape becomes more varied, and less hilly. The sunflowers and corn are beginning to emerge. The acacia is in full bloom. You also see more fields of vegetables here. You also see more business parks in this region south of Brno. We park the tree bike in Vlasatice because the batteries are empty. Sanne comes to pick us up and we bring her and Cecel back to the guesthouse because after that we need to get to Brno quickly to return the borrowed bike. The logistical puzzle continues to dominate. We get to the center of Brno just in time. What a beautiful center with beautiful old buildings, there is a festival going on and it is pleasantly crowded. I like the cultural and urban dynamics. I have missed that. Right after that we pick up Richard from the bus station who has just arrived here. Good to see him again. We drive to the hotel where Daan’s car and trailer have been left and from there we drive to our new guesthouse in Pasohlávky. Again I am amazed what distance we cycled today if you drive the whole way by car. We eat pizza in the restaurant of the guesthouse whose owner is rather tight-lipped and a bit gruff. After I tell him about our project after dinner and give him a tree, he softens up a bit. Nice that we can also achieve that by giving him a tree. We bring all our things upstairs, drink tea and go to sleep. We are all tired. But it was another great day!
